One of Manchester’s iconic public houses, The Marble Arch was built in 1888 as a show house pub for McKenna’s Brewery. In 1997 it became the birthplace of The Marble Brewery. While the brewery outgrew the pub many years ago, it remains their flagship venue and spiritual home.
The fine barrel vaulted ceiling and decorative frieze – covered up during alteration in 1954 – were revealed again in the early 1980’s. The mosaic sloping floor leading you inexorably to the bar and the glazed tile walls add to the splendour of the pub. When lockdown ends it really is a must-visit destination for any pub lover for the decor alone, never mind the exceptional food and massive range of Marble Beers.
During lockdown, the Marble Beers are available in can, bottle and mini-cask from Marble’s online shop while the pub was offering click and collect food at weekends until the latest restrictions prevented this.
The Marble Arch After Hours
Wednesday 17th February (from 7pm)
Although they can’t welcome you in person, The Marble Arch will open its virtual doors where your hosts from the Arch and Marble Beers will be waiting online.
Your beer box will include an exclusive launch of Marble’s new beer Uppe Hela Natten Irish Whiskey edition. Marble head brewer Joseph Ince will open the evening with a tasting of the beer.
Your box will also include two exciting beers from Wander Beyond brewery. Head brewer Dan de Bechevel will tell you about the brewing of these beers.
Joseph will then be joined by members of the Marble team including, Marble director Jan Rogers and Customer QA lead Mars Pascale to take a look at what the future may hold for beer and pub lovers when pubs are eventually allowed to reopen? What the future of pubs and brewing may look like on the other side? Have their customers got used to drinking at home to never return to the pub? Have cans replaced the pint in drinkers hearts?
Attendees on the Zoom session will be able to put their questions to the panel as we explore where the new normal may take us.
We, as no doubt many of you have, missed the life and joy that a visit to the pub can bring so following on from the lead discussion the Marble team will be opting to stay on for an open Q&A, asking attendees to interact and participate in a more open chat.
To accompany the session, Marble has put together a special mixed box of beers. There will be ten cans from Marble’s range including the launch of their newest beer – Uppe Hela Natten Irish Whiskey edition . Completing the pack will be two great releases from Wander Beyond.
