The Manchester Beer and Cider Festival is managed and staffed by volunteers from CAMRA (with assistance from a small number of brewery staff).

The festival is often cited as an example of how to run a modern festival and we are proud of how we have taken the event forward, but we are seeking new people with specific skills to join the organising team and take the festival forward to the next level – click here for details.

Volunteering at CAMRA festivals is great fun and most volunteers come back time and time again, often building strong friendships with their co-volunteers. Although we have many long-standing volunteers in Manchester and many who travel from further afield, new volunteers are always required. Whether you are an existing CAMRA member or a beer lover whose yet to join, if you can spare anything from a couple of hours to the whole week, we’d love to have you along.

Full training and support will be given and there are also a few perks – free beer and cider, food, a free t-shirt, discounts and an invite to the volunteers party (with more free beer).

The main set up for the festival starts on Sunday 19th January and continues through until the afternoon of Wednesday 22nd. The festival is open to the licensed trade and CAMRA members only on Wednesday evening then open to the public from Thursday until Saturday. Take down starts when the festival closes at 7pm on Saturday 25th and continues through until end of Sunday 26th (with a small team on site on Monday 27th for cask collections).

There are a variety of jobs to be done from the start of set up to the end of take down – more than the obvious serving beer and cider or selling bottled beers. From glasses to pub games to stewarding, we have roles to suit most people and can accommodate most conditions. The festival could utilise your existing talents or you could learn a new skill which you can then use elsewhere.
